The Francophile Network (FN) connects Canadians who travel to or live in France and provides opportunities to share experiences and knowledge with others with common interests.

A small number of people who all had a passion for the culture, history and ambience of France initiated the Francophile Network in Vancouver several years ago. Whether regular visitors, part-time residents or simply dreamers, we are a group of people who share a love for France. We help one another to achieve our goals by sharing experiences, knowledge, companionship, and occasionally our “maison secondaire”.

We meet regularly for a wine and cheese party to renew acquaintances, share stories, and savour the tastes of France. Through this web site and a variety of events throughout the year, we hope to enhance our ability to be a resource for Canadians who wish to travel or live in France.

• The November 30th Christmas gathering was held at Club VIVA, on Pacific Street in Vancouver.  Many thanks to Kerri Wallin and Bob Swansborough for organizing the venue.  Several members of the committee helped out with the organizing, Yerda Yeardsley managed the kitchen, Steve Cook manned the bar and many others helped with the set up and serving.  The view of False Creek was lovely and the sun peeked through from time to time.
  
  
• Attention Members! Are your French conversation skills a bit rusty? Heading back to France and wanting to be up to speed when you arrive? French teacher and Francophile Kerri Wallin will offer informal French conversation evenings at her Vancouver home, once a month. Polish up your nouns, verbs and adjectives! Bring something to drink, a small food item to share and we will while away a couple of hours with no English allowed. Every level of ability is welcomed - even listening to French is good for the ear! Kerri will take up to ten members only so that everyone gets a chance to speak. • Alliance Française de Vancouver has a special offer for Francophile Network members. As a member of the Francophile Network, you can enjoy a discounted membership with AF. Take advantage of their many cultural events - concerts, film projection with wine and cheese, exhibitions, festivals and media library (French books, magazines and DVDs). • FRANCO CHAT is the Francophile Network online Newsletter available to members only. Each issue is filled with valuable travel tips and members' stories about France. You also have access to all the back issues. Check out our Benefits of Membership page for sign up info.
  
  

  The latest edition of FrancoChat, the Francophile Network newsletter, is now available.  In this issue we have focused on Paris.  The Arrondissements explained, recommendations for apartments and hotels, things to do, events, places to enjoy the wonderful cuisine, ways to have fun and the latest in public transportation – the Velib.  There is also another story from Chandler, our resident raconteur as well as the experiences of a family sans automobile in Europe.  The strategic planning meeting held in September is summarized.  Enjoy the latest Franco Chat and think about submitting an article for the next edition in the spring.
